Home is Where the Tiger Roars

Who’s excited for re-colonization at South Carolina Beta at Clemson University?

When I visited the Charlotte, North Carolina Alumnae Club in April, we were just getting the news that this was a possibility. The news that we have our 205th chapter ever installed Pi Beta Phi is returning to Clemson University this fall thrilled South Carolina Beta Beth Viering Grant!

Since moving to Charlotte for a job, she has been an active participant in the alumnae club. The club allowed her to meet ladies who knew the area, who were willing to give their suggestions on a dry cleaner, grocery store, as well as a network of people to call upon willing to help her in a moment’s notice.

Although the alumnae club has been an awesome experience for Beth, she also remains connected to her South Carolina Beta sisters.

During Clemson football seasons, Beth continues to see her Pi Phis sisters. They know where each other park their cars outside of the stadium. Since college, they have started families, switched careers and moved to different parts of the county. But the sisterhood and shared memories harken back to those good times at South Carolina Beta. “It’s like we never left school,” she said.

Beth recalls memories like dances, mixers and visiting Lake Hartwell near the Clemson University campus. She remembers going to Greenville, South Carolina, for formals and the times she visited Gatlinburg, Tennessee, with her sisters. Beth explains, “Pi Phi sisters are the friends you will have for life.”

Beth has valued her experiences as a collegian and as a member in the alumnae club. I am excited to see our sister have the opportunity to share this joy with a new crop of South Carolina Beta sisters this fall. Beth, I will see you for Installation Weekend in November!
