Helping others is in Nevada Alpha Jacquelynn “Jacq” Gistarb’s blood. Since graduating from college, Jacquelynn has made it a priority to always give back- in both her personal and professional life. A graduate of University of Nevada, Reno, Jacquelynn has jumped around the country with one thing staying steady- her love of Pi Phi alumnae life.
While in college, Jacq found multiple ways to give back through Pi Phi. As Vice President of Social Advancement and House Manager, Jacq was able to live her best Pi Phi life. “I was always Polly Pi Phi,”Jacq said. Between living in the chapter house for three years and always living her values, Jacq truly embodied her Pi Phi sisterhood.
After graduating college, Jacq became active in her alumnae club. It was a place where she was able to not only grow on a personal level, but also help shape others’ Pi Phi experiences. During her time in the Las Vegas Alumnae Club, Jacq traveled to convention and Regional Alumnae Leadership Summits. These events all helped Jacq understand that Pi Phi really is for life. “Join an alumnae club immediately when you move,” she urges other recent graduates. “You already have something in common with these women and they can help make your post college experience more exciting.”
Jacq, a recent NYC transplant, immediately reached out to the alumnae club after moving, which is how I met her! “Once you’re a Pi Phi, it will always bring you joy no matter where you are!” she said. “The memories always stay with you and will help cheer you up down the road when you face difficult times.”
