“At 9 years old, I told my mom I was going to Texas Tech,’” said Texas Gamma Chelsea Tomchuk.
Chelsea was in second grade when she saw her aunt graduate from Texas Tech. Being around the hoopla, and seeing how her grandparents supported her aunt, made it easy for Chelsea to choose the Red Raiders at such an early age. You can bet she checked her application status online multiple times a day until she received the email accepting her into the Texas Tech family! And yes, she then changed her entire room to red and black.
Chelsea is following in the footsteps of her grandmother, mother and aunt who all work in the medical field. They all knew the great reputation of Texas Tech’s pre-health programs and were thrilled when Chelsea enrolled in the pre-physician assistant program with a specialization in human development and family studies. To top it off, she has a minor in health professions. Chelsea is focused and already has her eyes on graduate school at Texas Tech. “I’m a Red Raider for Life!” she said.
Chelsea has done so well in school, she was approached by her Graduate Teaching Assistant and offered a position as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Anatomy 1 for this spring. In this role, Chelsea will have weekly meetings with the Professor and group of Graduate Teaching Assistants to familiarize themselves with the coursework and assist with study and review sessions. This is quite an accomplishment for a second semester freshman!
So far, Texas Tech has been everything Chelsea wanted, from the connections she has made to the strong academic program. Go Red Raiders!
