First Comes Love, then Comes Marriage

Pi Beta Phi has a very special place in the heart of Florida Epsilon Janeann Harris Goldstein. Living off-campus with a group of women, Janeann wanted social interactions to get to know people. One of her roommates was a member of Pi Phi, and Janeann knew she was destined to be a Pi Phi as well. So she initiated her junior year at the University of Central Florida (UCF).

Janeann became very involved, even serving as Panhellenic Delegate her senior year She really enjoyed meeting with people in other organizations as they would all come together for a common good of everyone in the Fraternity and Sorority community. This role also allowed her the platform to work together with other people who had the same goals.

When reminiscing about her collegiate years, she would be remiss to not tell me about one of the best memories. As football games were off campus, she and a group of her Pi Phis would always make the trek into downtown Orlando to cheer on the UCF Knights. One day, a friend checked in on the women during their trip downtown and introduced them to his friend, Lee. “People will tell you there was an instant ‘thing’ that happened,” she recalls. The following Sunday, Lee sent a red rose with a Pi Phi sister to the chapter meeting.

Twenty-eight years later, the couple is still married and have two wonderful children. “I met him all because of Pi Phi,” she said.

Moving her family to Charlotte 2014, Janeann enjoys being an active member of the Charlotte, North Carolina Alumnae Club. As Pi Phi has meant so much to her throughout her life, Janeann is thrilled to continue to grow the bonds of friendship with the women she meets.
